Hello, everybody!
Brittany is an "
Ace of Cake"
(TV Show) fanatic. I (Denise) watched a few, but I think she's watched them all. She even learned techniques from the show...What amazes her the most is the
FONDANT. You can use Fondant to cover cakes and create amazing decorations. It is not hard to use, but we believe the more we use it, the better we'll get at it. I personally think we did a wonderful job with the cake, and while we ended up spliting up the work at the end and Brittany was in charge of the fondant and decoration, she did an amazing job. We baked the cake from scratch together (the recipe was from my new beloved Williams-Sonoma Cake Book), and I made the buttercream and cut up the strawberries while Brittany was working the Fondant.
For the first time we used Fondant, we decided to buy ready-to-use Fondant. Like this, we could focus on experimenting with it. Maybe, next time we'll make some!
Here is our
Buttercream Strawberry Flowers Cake:

Richard was amazed by the cake. We tasted it right after the "photo shoot" and it was Gooood!
